Gallery 487 (Oct 1, 2014). Drained ponds are full of pitfalls and it is often difficult to predict from a distance which conditions you will find. Shallow or deep ground? Sticky or liquid mud? Will it be an easy walk or a heavy struggle? I often take a stick with me to test the depth, and then feel my way forward step by step... The consistence of the mud here was wonderfully soft and creamy and my glossy Hunters sank slowly but surely deeper into the mire. Beautiful sight indeed. But then, only few steps later and entirely unexpectedly, I didn't feel the floor anymore... But that's a story for its own. Look forward to the follow-up next week.
