Gallery 180 (Nov 5, 2008). Imagine what I encountered on my recent pond inspection: A tree, uprooted and carelessly left behind in the mud. I thought it would be a good environmental work to plant it into a near grove where it can again strike roots. However, I hadn't considered how heavy a soaked root ball can get. I pulled and pushed and pulled again while my waders sunk deeper and deeper into the water and mud until I was exhausted. Poor tree, I had to let it there.
